Offline Maps is a great open-source application to download tiles from Google Maps for offline viewing. You can download map tiles to your computer from Google Maps and navigate to a location similarly.
You can also draw paths and save them on the maps. Offline Maps is a great tool that can also be used with GPS to position the map at the points received from the device. The application also supports OpenStreetMap.
