There was a certain time when search is still divided into Google, Yahoo, AskJeeves, and other minor players, however, Google dominated the industry and have a virtual monopoly in the business.
Interesting insight white label SEO, but that doesn't mean that these search engines aren't used nowadays. These "alternatives" may not hold high market shares, but are still effective in search.
